Testimony - Kuching, Malaysia

Greeting.

In 2019, I was approached by 2 girls in our local mall. They were doing some survey and asked me about my experiences and cultures at our town. Well, at first I thought it was just a normal and harmless survey. Right after the survey, they asked for my phone number and surprisingly, they called me directly after they got my number. After that event, I was getting texts from them and asked me to meet them for an interview for their video. So, I just agreed with them.

On the day, I met another individual and she interviewed me. Then she gave a personality test (Enneagram Personality Test). She told me that they were collaborating with a counselling group to help youth around Kuching. She told me that, she will call me when the result is ready and whether I will be selected by them to give me the results personally.

A week later, a guy text me and told me that I was selected. He told me that he will gave me a counselling session based on the Bible. However, due to my schedule, he told me that he will passed me to his colleague. From that moment, I was having counselling sessions with this girl (A).

Without any suspicions, I always met her and eventually become close to her. I'm not gonna lie, but she's really a good person. She listened to me and I shared my personal problem with her. After for quite times, she invited me to a bible seminar. At the seminar, we given a bible lesson by a speaker from South Korea. We were told that he is a well known speaker.

After the seminar, I still having a personal session with A. Weeks later, I have told that they're having a Biblical course and she invited me to join the course. At first, I rejected her offer because I was busy with my study in university. However, she managed to bring me in. She was persistent to bring me in the classes. Before joining the classes, I went for an interview to see whether I qualified or not to join the classes.

As soon as I join the course, that's when it all started. First, we were introduced to the speaker that giving us the Bible lesson during the bible seminar. He told us few rules and regulations that we must follow. One of it is we are not supposed to reveal what we are doing at the class and lied to our family and friends about the program. During the classes, we were taught about parables, the truth meaning of parables, prophecies (Revelations) and secret of Kingdom of Heaven. They never told us where the teaching came from until we are fully ready to receive the teaching and the truth.

After few months, they finally revealed themselves to me personally because I said I was ready. Then they revealed that they're from Shincheonji. At first, I have no doubt about them. I just followed the teaching. One of the leader told me not to Google about them but I did out of curiosity. That's when I found out that they're a cult.

When I realized it, I tried to left by telling my leader. However, she insisted on me to stay and not to abandon the course. She even told me that my life will become worst when I left. At first, it does scared me and i stayed for another weeks. However, when I was on the way home from the classes, I almost got into an accident because I was so tired and exhausted. Then, I had made my decisions to left and finally free from them. However, my leader did texted me few times but I ignored her.

End of February, I read a news about the Covid19 outbreaks in South Korea. I was relieved that I had left the cult. In addition, I had tweeted about their movement in Kuching to raise awareness to others.
